WeSERV Affiliates present scholarships to Katie Ritchie and Ashlyn Drew

Congratulations to Katie Ritchie and Ashlyn Drew!

WeSERV is honored to award the scholarships to Katie and Ashlyn, wishing them the best in their endeavors.

On Friday, May 12, WeSERV Southeast Valley Affiliates presented Seniors Katie Ritchie of Desert Vista High School and Ashlyn Drew of Camille Casteel High School with $2,000 scholarships.

With a long list of Honors and AP classes, leadership roles, and activities, Katie was accepted to Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. Through ASU’s Public Policy and Public Service program, she looks forward to exploring multifaceted public policy perspectives and collaborating with students who see policy as an agent of change. After high school graduation, Katie plans to get her Real Estate license and fight for those who struggle to access housing. She said the WeSERV scholarship would provide her with the services and resources to drive Arizona’s real estate industry forward.

Arizona State University accepted Ashlyn to Exploratory Health and Life Sciences in the University College. She brings a multitude of AP and Honors classes and leadership experience. Ashlyn has already started her training with internships as a PT Technician and as a Physician’s Assistant. In her application essay about “What Homeownership Means to Me,” Ashlyn wrote, “... It means acceptance of a new stage of life. It symbolizes growth and success. It serves as a holder of memories, of safety, and of comfort from the outside world. In a life as variable as that of any young adult, home ownership means stability and trust, ... Today, more clearly than ever before, I see myself someday, taking great pride in not owning a collection of rooms, or a building, or even a house, but a home.”

WeSERV is honored to award the scholarships to Katie and Ashlyn, wishing them the best in their endeavors.
