REALTORS® Give Back to the Community and the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley
"WeSERV with Sole" Shoe and Sock Drive
[Follow Up Article from March 1, 2023]CHANDLER, AZ (April 11, 2023) — The 2023 WeSERV Leadership Class launched a month-long campaign to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley (BGCAZ). The “WeSERV with Sole” initiative focused on helping people “get on solid footing” by soliciting footwear donations for kids while providing housing-related education for all.
WeSERV (West & SouthEast REALTORS® of the Valley, Inc.) collected new children’s shoes, socks, and gift cards in March. Members of the Association and the community contributed 236 pairs of shoes and 1,302 pairs of socks for the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley. In addition, the Leadership Class purchased more socks with the $1,555 gift card and monetary contributions.
Donations were divided and presented to the B&GC Jerry and Helen Wisotsky Branch at 11820 N. 81st Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345, on Monday, April 10, followed by delivery to the B&GC Bob and Renee Parsons branch at 4309 E. Belleview St., Bldg. #14, Phoenix AZ, 85008, on Tuesday, April 11.
“Wow, just WOW!” said Kristin Spielberg, BGCAZ’s Special Events Coordinator. “This donation from WeSERV is absolutely incredible, and we cannot thank you all enough for your generosity. Our community of kids will be so happy!” Spielberg noted the importance of new shoes and socks for kids in need. “New shoes and socks put kids on equal footing, and while it can seem like a simple thing, for many, it’s a need.”
WeSERV hosted a FREE event open to the community on March 23 at Varney Park as part of the campaign. The event included food, games, activities, and giveaways. In addition, experts were available with resources for renters and homeowners, including healthy home ideas, maintenance tip sheets, budgeting assistance, and more.
